I prefer the explanation in the previous line. A comma helps separate lists of things when you are reading and sometimes serves no purpose other than to aid the reader. Thus commas are unnoticed unless someone says it outloud. Here Lupe says “comma” to let you know that he has a list of things similar to the category of “mama.”

I was just reading through this and got to say, Lupe’s listeners are far above average, savages. Great explanations from great minds. I’d say he attracts the right people. With that said, I don’t have much to add to the explanations overall.
