Your “dark passenger/addiction” will tell you many things, mainly, “You are nothing without me…”

"Ha ha, you sold your soul to me, need I remind you?" (Eminem – My Darling) | pending

“You sold your soul to me, need I remind you?” This is his “dark passenger/addiction” saying that long ago, you made a pact with me…I gave you what you have, and it is because of me that you are successful. You will submit…This is a tactic the “dark passenger/addiction” uses that makes you feel impotent…Trust me, do not succumb…

Yes, as the above suggests, the “dark passenger/addiction” wins this battle. It starts reminding him of all the drugs he used to abuse. It also is telling him that the two of them together can overcome anything (no need for rehabilitation when you can control and conquer your “dark passenger/addiction” and get positive results from it, right?)…Again, Marshall’s “dark passenger/addiction” is reaffirming to him, that no one in this world will love him more than it does…Unfortunately, in this song, the “dark passenger/addiction” wins because Marshall was vulnerable and believed it’s lies…

"Fame has a price too?" (Eminem – My Darling) | pending

Yes, fame has it’s price. The pressures, stress and lack of privacy…It’s not what it seems…It’s a delusion of grandeur if you aren’t prepared for the immense responsibilities that come with it…

Indeed. When you come from poverty, you think extreme wealth will solve all of your problems…However, sometimes (more often than not), it exacerbates them…This is especially so when you are an addict…What was once an expensive habit, now is quite reasonably priced…

This has a direct correlation to the conversation he was having with “Dre” in the previous verse. Marshall’s “dark passenger/addiction” is saying that without it, he would have never garnered Dre’s attention and would not be as successful as he was…In essence, “You are/were nothing without me…”

If you attempt suicide and survive, the “dark passenger/addiction” will still be there…

Again, your “dark passenger/addiction” is an internal struggle…The only way you can “beat” it, and “control” it is from within…In my case, I still struggle with it, however, with the help of God, my wife, and my family, I’ve learned to manage it.

Talking back to his “dark passenger/addiction” saying that while under the influence he was turned into something that he really wasn’t…

The “dark passenger/addiction” telling Marshall that he isn’t as “bad ass” without it’s influence…
