It’s no mistake that the much more cheerful Food Fight has similar themes to the next song on the album My Eating Disorder.

No…not exactly…but, you know, it’s always nice to laugh. Like we said, the Replacements are a big influence on us, and they always had some fun irreverent songs in the mix to kind of like, offset the more serious songs, so, that seemed like a good idea to me.

A Mis Enemigos is a song with a history of its own. It belongs to the Narcorrido genre — basically Latino gangster rap without all the bling.

La mer translates to “the sea.” Chelsea has been using the sea allegorically throughout the song, here she contrasts the waves and mystery of the sea to the curves and sexuality of a woman.

“The people traded anything they owned for alcohol, which left them destitute and defenseless against winter temperatures. This was not quality alcohol. The so-called whiskey given out by traders for buffalo robes and other furs was a lethal concoction of alcohol mixed with anything that would give it colour and substance—bluestone, burnt sugar, castile soap, Jamaica Ginger, Perry Davis Painkiller, tea, ink and sometimes, horrifically, strychnine (a poison).” –Margaret A.
