After he died, so many people emulated 2pac that it almost seemed disrespectful. they say imitation is the biggest form of flattery though. Adding that after his death colleges went as far as to offer 2Pac classes where his lyrics were studied and broken down etc.

Pondering one of the same questions Pac often asked, then giving my answer. Also noting that police have never solved his murder and wondering if his spirit is at peace or if he’s “rolling over in his grave” as a result of that.

2Pac was a huge rap/music artist/icon who was taken too early in a tragic way like some other well known music greats. Their legacy’s live on.

Reference to his song Ambitions Az A Ridah. Also playing around with the idea that Pac talked about death and got himself into trouble so much that he subconsciously had ambition to die.

When 2Pac and Dre came out with California Love that was the start of a major West Coast takeover in terms of the rap world. He was at the forefront or in the “drivers seat” for that. I chose the term drivers seat to include a little irony in the sense that he was shot and killed while sitting in the passenger seat of a car that was being driven by you know who.

Of course this verse is written about one of my favorite rappers, 2Pac. I'ts not revealed until the end that that’s who I’m talking about but you will get it before then if you listen to the lyrics and know anything about his story.

Pac had been dead for 10 years plus but his influence on hip hop culture was still so strong. Many people were quoting him, biting his styles, and other rappers were taking a lot of the Thug Life persona he had created and acting that out as well.

The thing is is that Pac had that counterbalance to all the thuggin' that was more conscious and folks weren’t as equally reppin' that side.

My mother would take us to church and we would praise God and talk about being thankful and having blessings but at the time I didn’t always see it. To be a single mother that raised four kids took a lot! Nothing that can break her spirit. I admire her strength.

I remember we rented a fairly large house by Lake Merritt but we didn’t really have enough $ to heat the whole house. We would all stay in one room and run a little heater. We put a towel under the door to keep the heat from escaping. I used to go to sleep scared cause there was mice there and I was terrified of rodents. Just illustrating that we had some challenges.

Further showing how hard it was for moms. She would make sure we all got to our sports games or extra curricular activities and that she was present whenever possible. We would still complain and talk shit cause we were young ungrateful heathens at the time.
