I Need a Haircut

Biz Markie

About “I Need a Haircut”

I Need A Haircut, the third studio album by American hip hop artist Biz Markie, was released on August 27th, 1991. The album had a little bit of success, reaching the #113 spot on the Billboard 200, and the #44 spot on the Top R&B/ Hip Hop albums chart.

The album changed the hip hop industry forever when Biz was served a lawsuit for the sampling of “Alone Again (Naturally)” by Gilbert O'Sullivan on the track “Alone Again”. The end result of the court case was that any future music sampling has to be pre-approved by the original copyright owners so that the artists and companies can avoid lawsuits.

Biz made fun of this situation on by titling his next album “All Samples Cleared”
