About “Bang 3”

Bang 3 is the second studio album by American rapper Chief Keef. The LP is a double album itself, serving as the third installment of Chief Keef’s Bang trilogy. It was leaked online on August 1, 2015. Soon after the album was released officially on iTunes on August 3, 2015, through the label FilmOn Music.

Bang 3 was originally attended to be a mixtape and was going to be released on December 25th, 2013. However, Keef’s manager, Peeda Pan, announced that it would be developed into a full length album.

In late February, it was announced that Chief Keef planned on releasing Bang 4, an EP that would preview tracks for Bang 3, however, this resulted in Bang 4 getting pushed back until November when Chief Keef continued to keep with the plan of releasing the EP.

During the time when Keef was still signed to Interscope Records, Larry Jackson, the executive of the label, announced that the album would be released on June 10th, 2014. It was then later delayed to September 30th, until it got pushed back again. Keef was later dropped from the label, despite Jackson stating that him and the label were behind Chief Keef and Bang 3. It also resulted with legal issues that Keef dealt with caused Interscope to “subtly disassociate” with him.

Despite the constant delays, Keef would continue on to release tracks off the album, and letting people know that the album would still be released In July of 2014, Chief Keef would release the tracklist of the album, revealing that Lil B & A$AP Rocky would be on the album. Chicago rapper Kanye West was also expected to be on the album, with the track, “Nobody”, until it was later developed into its own album, released on December 16th, 2014. Keef later decided to rework the entirety of the tracklist, except for the track, “Superheroes” with ASAP Rocky.

On July 25th, 2015, Chief Keef organized a promotional concert for the album, which also served as a charity concert to help out the victim of a drive-by shooting that left one of Keef’s Glo Gang member, Capo as well as a 13-month old Dillian Harris dead. Due to the amount of warrants Chief Keef had, he performed via hologram, however it went south as the Hammond Police shut down the entire concert.

On August 1st, 2015, two songs from the album, both featuring A$AP Rocky & Mac Miller, were leaked in its entirety. The album was later released for free as a mixtape on various mixtape websites, including Hotnewhiphop.com. It was later removed the next day, at the request of Alki David, and was later made available through FilmOnTV’s website for purchase, then later on iTunes on August 3rd.
