About “Esham’s Boomin’ “Words From Hell””

Esham’s Boomin' “Words From Hell” is Esham’s debut release. Both the cover art and copyright info on the cassette say 1990, but it was recorded in 1989, when Esham was approximately 16 years old.

The very first version was released under no record label, only 500 copies were made, and was available on cassette tape only. There was no UPC bar code present and the tape was opaque red, commonly known as The Red Tape.

Within a year, Esham and his older brother James H. Smith had formed their record label Reel Life Productions and extra pressings of this album were manufactured. The 2nd pressing was still a red tape limited to 500 copies but it now contained a bar code and the catalog number RLP1000. The 3rd pressing was a clear tape.

Later again in 1990 it was re-released under a new catalog number (RLP1001) with new cover art, a modified track list, and a slightly different title, simply Boomin' Words From Hell
