The Return of Mr. Zone 6

Gucci Mane

About “The Return of Mr. Zone 6”

The Return of Mr. Zone 6 is Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane’s sixth studio album and the sequel to his June 2010 mixtape Mr. Zone 6. Released on March 22, 2011, the 13-track effort includes features from Birdman, Wale, Master P, Waka Flocka Flame, and Rocko, among others.

Originally, Gucci’s sixth studio album was supposed to be the final part of the The State vs. Radric Davis trilogy and titled The State vs. Radric Davis: The Verdict. However, this album was scrapped.

On February 10, 2011, Gucci announced the release date of the LP, stating that the album was “a return to the music that got me buzzin’ in the first place.” The tracklist was notably absent of big-name, mainstream features, as Gucci instead opted to work more in-house with his frequent collaborators from his previous mixtapes. Although The Return of Mr. Zone 6 is often regarded as a studio album, both Gucci and executive producer Drumma Boy stated that it was instead a commercial mixtape.

The Return of Mr. Zone 6 received mostly positive reviews from music critics, with many noting the album’s mixtape feel.
