Black Reign

Black Reign is the third studio album by American rapper Queen Latifah, released on November 16, 1993 in the United States. Black Reign was her most successful album up to this point, peaking at number 60 on the Billboard 200 and declared gold by the RIAA.

Latifah has stated that her brother, Lancelot “Wiki” Owens Jr’s, death in 1992 was caused by an accident involving a motorcycle that Latifah had purchased for him. Her brother’s death was the main motivation behind this album.

In a 2006 interview, Latifah revealed that she still wears the key to the motorcycle around her neck, visible mostly throughout her performance in her sitcom Living Single. Latifah has also worn the key at concerts.
