The Ruler’s Back is the second studio album by Slick Rick, it was released on July 2, 1991 on Def Jam Recordings. Slick Rick worked on some of the album when he was bailed out of prison by Russell Simmons.

Although the album wasn’t as commercially successful as his debut “The Great Adventures of Slick Rick” it peaked at number 29 on the Billboard 200 and number 18 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

The singles on the album include: “I Shouldn’t Have Done It”(June 6, 1991), “Mistakes of a Woman in Love with Other Men”(1991) and “It’s a Boy”(November 21, 1991).
