Travis Scott

About “Rodeo”

Rodeo is Travis Scott’s long awaited debut album following his first two mixtapes, Owl Pharaoh and Days Before Rodeo, released on September 4th, 2015. The album was supported by the singles “3500” and “Antidote.”

Scott stated that his life was like a circus or rodeo and that he feels like he is trying to stay on a bucking animal, and that it is inspired by rodeos he witnessed in Texas, saying:

It’s like a Beyoncé concert. The carnival, the livestock, and the show are all parts of the event. I feel like that’s how my life is. The carnival is like my imagination—it’s the drive behind my vision. Even though I don’t feel like I’m at a point where my shit is at an all time high, we’re working to get there. We are working to get to the level of where your magazine is and to stand on that level. The livestock show is the road to get to where I’m going. At this point, I’m riding a bull for just eight seconds and it’s hard as fuck. But we made it.

On August 18th, 2014, Travis released his second mixtape (which he calls a free album), Days Before Rodeo, which serves as a prelude to this album, also confirming its title, Rodeo.

On January 26th, 2015, Travis announced the “Rodeo Tour” with Young Thug and producer Metro Boomin in order to support the album.

On June 8th, 2015, Travis released the album’s lead single, “3500.”

On June 12th, 2015, a song titled “Drunk” featuring Young Thug was leaked online. This track would later be included in the album as “Maria I’m Drunk,” with a verse by Justin Bieber.

On July 29th, 2015, Scott released the album’s second single “Antidote,” which would go on to become Rodeo’s biggest hit, peaking at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, and on April 14th, 2017, being certified triple platinum.

On May 22, 2017, Rodeo was certified platinum by the RIAA.
