twenty one pilots' album Vessel is their first album released via Fueled By Ramen. It contains tracks rerecorded from their previous album Regional at Best as well as new tracks.
In an interview, Joseph spoke on the meaning behind the album’s name, saying
the album’s called vessel and…a vessel carries something that’s important but the outward shell of a vessel isn’t necessarily that important. The theory behind that is our bodies are going to die…but what we have inside of us is much more important than that, just like the meaning of a song or the message of a song…will live on."
The album has consistently sold more than 1,000 copies a week since its release. Despite its release in 2013, the album ended at #119 on US Billboard 200 in 2015 and #38 in 2016, reaching platinum status on July 18, 2016.
In early 2019, fans began an initiative to get every song on the album Gold or Platinum certified, accomplishing their goal in July 2019 when “Truce” became RIAA Gold certified. This accomplishment made twenty one pilots the first band to have every song on two albums Gold or Platinum certified.

Who are the two elderly men and why are they on the cover?
The two men depicted on the albums cover are Tyler and Josh’s grandfathers. In a 2018 interview, Tyler stated:
What helps me is to glorify getting old and to not be afraid of it. I’m looking forward to it. I think if our culture were to see our elderly in that way…like they’ve accomplished something. They’ve ran a race and they have a lot to tell us about how we could better run it. I think that would help with a lot of things.
