Yeezus

Kanye West

About “Yeezus”

Kanye West’s sixth studio album, Yeezus, marked a complete reverse from the bombastic production he accomplished on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, swapping lush soul and anthemic hooks for splintering electro, acid house, and industrial force while packaging some of his most lewd and heart-crushing tales.

Yeezus made it’s first appearance to the public on May 2, 2013 in a cryptic tweet, revealing a date. The tweet spawned many ideas of what was to come, many speculating an album.

This would be followed with the premiere of “New Slaves” on May 17, 2013, displayed in 66 locations that screened the track. The songs title would be revealed by Virgil Abloh via Instagram. The album’s title would be revealed the next day by Kim Kardashian.

Yeezus would accompany it’s release with an exclusive listening party at Milk Studios in New York City on June 10, 2013. Four days later, the album would leak in a file-sharing website. Which did not effect the album’s release in it’s entirety.

In April 2016, Kanye West reportedly began updating Yeezus, like he did with The Life of Pablo.

Fun Fact:

The only listed feature (according to iTunes) is God:

No one is exactly sure as to why he didn’t credit all the features though.
