After Nelson Mandela (RIP) was released from prison in 1990, the movement began to fizzle out and many artists that rapped about righteousness and black power in 1990, were rapping about hoes and bussing caps by 94, mostly due to the rise of Gangsta rap which became the most profitable.

2pac acknowledges this throughly. Black pride and improvement is not about who wears the most Cross Colours gear or medallions and afrocentric clothing. Change has to come from within the people themselves.
