My notes prepare me. They keep me on task, and they help me recall my creative musings. But what if leaving the notes becomes the final act itself? And what happens when the notes start writing themselves, and they all say “no”?

I was never meant to be normal, or simple. Since day one, I’ve altered the status quo. I’ve never felt quite right when not breaking down barriers. And that sometimes means making people uncomfortable.

Although I don’t know what it’s like to be afraid to walk home in my own neighborhood, in fear that I might be shot for pulling out my own keys. But I do know firsthand what it’s like to be abused by cops, and I have friends incarcerated and in various other stages of the cycle.
