In the last year of his life, Tupac’s image became more gangster and less gangsta, and the Death Row roster followed suit (no pun intended). This shift was prompted by Kenya Ware, who began to style Pac before officially becoming Death Row’s West Coast marketing representative.

In 1997, the year after Tupac’s death, Gang Related, a film that he co-starred in, premiered. The movie’s soundtrack was credited to ‘THE “UNTOUCHABLE” DEATH ROW RECORDS.’

Wouldn’t this be more of a shout out to the MOB Pirus? The bloods gang that Suge was with and who Pac shouts out on To Live and Die in LA, as well as All Out “we claim MOB, M.O.B. If you be specific…”

Another jab at Christopher Reeve, the butt of many of Eminem’s jokes, despite him not being around anymore.

Firstly, the man was a quadriplegic, so ‘turning’ is completely impossible for him to do.
Secondly, turning in your grave is an expression used when someone is made fun of after their death, a concept which Em is not a stranger to.

“Taylor Gang” is know for smoking a great deal of weed. When smoking is the first thing you do in the morning it’s referred to as a “Wake and Bake”

“Baking” a rapper means to burn/embarrass/defeat them

A “Wake” is a predecessor to a funeral where friends and family can see the body

Royce is saying instead of Waking and Baking like the Taylor Gang, as in smoking weed, he’s actually destroying the competition and giving them a funeral

This is a reference to the movie The Matrix in which the user has to choose between a red or blue pill

If you’re still in the Matrix then you took the blue pill. He’s saying you should’ve taken the red pill to get out of the Matrix (and into reality.)

“Temptations” is the third and final single for 2Pac’s 1995 album, Me Against The World.

Apart from being one of the better known songs from the album, this song is exceptional in demonstrating Pac’s versatile rhyming structure. Producer Easy Mo Bee provided some background on how this track was created:

I went to Rucker Park because at the time he was filming Above the Rim. So I go in the trailer, I had AB Money and J.R with me, I played him one joint that I had already made and that track ended up being ‘Temptations.’ I had took ‘Computer Love’ and flipped it. All the beatmakers out there, a lot of people know but a lot of people don’t, it was [Zapp & Roger’s] ‘Computer Love’ filtered and I’m drumming it up on top then I’m letting some keys and stuff. Then after the beat is done, I had this idea, I was listening to Redman’s album (Whut? Thee Album) heavy and on that joint there’s a track with Erick Sermon (‘Watch Yo Nuggets’) where it goes ‘Heeeey Erick Sermon… Haaaaay.’ So I’m like, just take the Hey and Hay and try it out. And that’s how we got that beat right there.

Due to his incarceration, 2Pac did not appear in the “Temptations” music video. It is set in a hotel where Ice-T plays the concierge and Coolio plays a bellboy who comes across a collection of celebrities, including Adina Howard, B-Real, Bill Bellamy, Cheryl “Salt” James, Crystal Waters, DJ Spinderella, Isaac Hayes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jasmine Guy, Kenya Moore, Shock G, Joe Torry, Taye Diggs, Treach, Warren G, and Yo-Yo.

… Not 2 mention he (2Pac) refers 2 Kurupt as Kurupt (elsewhere): K is Kastro.

The original was officially released on 1995’s The Show OST. ‘My Block’ was later remixed for the 2002 posthumous album titled ‘Better Dayz’ produced by Nitty and featured additional vocals from Tyrese in place of Richie Rich who was featured on the original.
