“Breaking in” a mitt (baseball mitt) is what baseball players have to do when a mitt is brand new. The mitt is usually very stiff, so they have to break it in.

He made them drop that nuke, as in they put it down and decided it would be in their best interest not to use it.

Dudes in the hood tuck their chains inside their shirts when they feel threatened and think there’s a chance someone might snatch it off their neck.

Deck full of spades – Lupe is figuratively dealing cards when he is rapping. In a game of spades, the spades are the trump cards. So when Lupe spits, every lyric is a trump card ‘cause his deck is full of spades.

He says “it’s manure if you new to the ways of the lupester (Lupe),” which means that some people will think that the lyrics in this song are “manure” or shit, but that’s only because they are not used to hearing lyrics of such depth as Lupe’s.

But notice the specific pronunciation of “New to.” He says it like “New tuh” = Neuter. If you neuter the way Lupe raps and how he writes lyrics, as a result the lyrics would be shit.

Now for the tie in. Let’s look at the words used in this line:

Bob Barker is the former host of the legendary game show The Price Is Right. At the end of every show he would remind the viewers saying, “Don’t forget to get your pets Spayed & Neutered”

Lupe ties everything together. Incredible.

The Bazooka represents Lupe’s lyrics in the sense that they are heavy, hard-hitting and powerful. A bazooka is used by resting it on your shoulder.

But the act of brushing his shoulders off illustrates how effortless it is for him to execute and manipulate those heavy lyrics. Lupe makes deep lyricism look like second nature.

This is likely also a reference to Jay Z’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”, given Jay’s feature on Drake’s original track.

The loss of a loved one can often result in a deep depression, making some people feel like there’s nothing left to live for, no reason to go on about their day; having suicidal thoughts is not uncommon.

When you lose someone close to you, whether it’s your mother, father, sister, brother, or friend it may feel so tormenting and heartbreaking that it seems unreal or dream-like, and you don’t want to believe that this special person is actually gone, that you’ll never see them again.
