Michael drops a little bit of a double entendre at the end of the second verse. Growing up poor, he never had much money, so if he went to college a fraternity may have been too expensive.

He throws in “Broke Phi Broke” which is a reference to Kanye’s skits on Late Registration.

Another common greek letter is Kappa, annunciated primarily as “K,” which also represents $1000, a fair amount of money he could use.

Logic is known for his ability to rap at a fast speed while also being understandable. He quickly goes into a fast flow but rejects it because he wants the listener to clearly hear the message of his song.

In addition, “Walk On By” had a line that went “My flow un-killable when I be murdering syllables”, and “Walk On By” was a representation of his deep, storytelling songs with true meaning behind the song, just like this song. Whereas “Bounce” was a party song that Logic made for fun, so this song is a great representation of both his fun and deep songs. “44 Bars” explores his current mindset and is the most lyrically deep song on the mixtape.

Logic has conquered the true “rags to riches” story, but he stresses a major problem with our culture in that there’s Never Enough, and achieving a goal just makes one aspire to attain to the next.

Logic uses witty wordplay, (champagne=sham-pain), to express the use of alcohol to escape hurt. He doesn’t drink much alcohol, except at his wedding, for this reason. With nothing more to gain, many successful people turn to overindulgence, which he fears to be a part of.

To sham is to falsely present something as the truth – drinking to avoid the hurt is not a real solution.

“Tip the scale” is an expression often used to denote a certain thing that allowed someone to succeed. Blaque Keyz tipped the scale by utilizing his rapping skills, or his “flow”, allowing him to have a career in music.

Of course this also connects to the “weight” in the song title. This is summarized in the final line of this verse.
