Signing as a free transfer from Manchester City, Kolo Toure adds both experience and a commanding physical presence to Liverpool’s defence. With Coates injured for the enterity of the season, Toure is likely to be a consistent part of the team at centre back. The villain of the footballing world, Luis Suarez’s reputation precedes himself. He will start the season at Liverpool with a 6 game ban, despite pushing for a move elsewhere throughout the summer. Whilst this has disillusioned Liverpool fans, Luis’s ability as a footballer is likely to win them back. Amongst the finest strikers in the world, Suarez is known for his aggressive ‘street football’ style play. His goal scoring prowess is remarkable, finishing just 3 goals behind Robin Van Persie in the Premiership top goalscorers last season while playing 5 less games.

A staple in Liverpool’s defence since 2006, Daniel Agger has taken over the retiring Jamie Carragher’s role as Vice-Captain. Primarily a ball playing centre back, Agger’s ball control skills fit perfectly into Liverpool’s philosophy of possession football. Agger also boasts strong heading abilities and excellent tackling, however he has been known to struggle against strong centre forwards. As Liverpool & Denmark’s most key defender, he has attracted interest from clubs such as AC Milan & Barcelona. Despite this, he has remained at Liverpool, bearing the clubs motto (You’ll Never Walk Alone) on his knuckles as a show of his loyalty.

Florence has emphasised the importance of this lyric in her interviews. She explain that sometimes you just can’t move on, you simply have to face the fact you might make a mistake again. This time embrace it.

‘What the hell’ is really important as well, because you’ll dance with the devil again at some point, and maybe it will be fun. I’ve heard he does a really good foxtrot.“
