The simile is a reference to retired NBA player Craig Ehlo. The part referring to the shot is unlikely referring Ehlo’s shooting ability, not that he was a bad shooter, just the fact that the token NBA moment when Michael Jordan made The Shot, Elho was the dude Jordan shot over…

Anyway the true meaning of the line is simply saying that he gotta good shot with a gun…

The metaphor is a reference to TiVo, one of the earliest DVR (digital video recorder) systems… DVR’s allow you to record shows and movies on TV, allowing you to pause the show (pause can be used as a synonym for freeze), and fast forward thru commercials and such.

So basically this line connects to the line above… by “I’ll make you freeze up” he could mean a lot of things, mostly related to actions or threats that would slow down this guys drug trafficking…

The metaphor in this line is a reference to the Heisman Trophy, an award that goes to the most outstanding player (of the year) in American college football… if a player wins this award, or any trophy-like award, typically he/she would hold it up high.

When he says “holding you up” that could mean

  • Getting robbed or;
  • Slowing down your progress to something

Wordplay;

  • Referencing being in a Rolls-Royce car… those are some damn expensive luxury cars. For example, a 2013 Ghost is from $256,650 to $296,000, and a 2013 Phantom is from $398,970 to $470,295.

  • Also Royce Da 5'9" is of course an emcee as well, which is where his word play comes from… that and Chubby Jag is taller then 5'9".

Compare, Cassidy is 5'9", Jag is clearly a lot taller.

Clever wordplay used in this line;

Johnny Manziel is a college football quarterback for the Texas A&M
Aggies
.

So let’s check out the wordplay used;

  • The early A.M. refers to the morning, you know, the A.M. and P.M. cycle… And of course Manziel plays for the Texas A&M Aggies.
  • Tecs would refer to TEC-9 guns, which is a semi-automatic handgun. But tecs also sounds like the first syllable of Texas.
