[Produced by Oddisee] Yaa I Get It (Oddisee Remix) by Shad

While he’s also an emcee, Oddisee is most heralded for his skills producing, and particularly his frequent use of Jazz and Soul music samples, and he holds true to this formula with this beat.

The primary song sampled on Yaa I Get It is You Can’t Hide Love by Creative Source and it appears at the end of the song:

Oddisee took this loop and remixed it himself reworking the wind instrument line to a gently looping melody while adding a booming bass line as well.

Througout Oddisee’s remix of the sample descending vocal lines can be heard that were sampled from the original song as well. Oddisee then uses the original sample as a fill before bringing back in the remake he made himself.

In elementary they ask you what you want to be
I'd like to say I said "me"
That they asked, "what," and that I replied "exactly"
But until I met The White Hart, that would've been a lie
The White Hart by Detroit Leprechaun

Children are often limitless in their imagination, and will often imagine many outlandish things that they want to be (ie. Astronauts and princesses.) in their life.

Detroit thinks back to the time when he was younger, and realizes that he never truly wanted to be himself. He wishes he could have been able to answer that question of what he wants to be by simply answering himself. However, before the White Hart came into his life Detroit was afraid of being himself.

Except your eyes act like flashlights, and you glow. So you start to wander, with no guiding walls or landmarks. The White Hart by Detroit Leprechaun

In this lost and black world, it’s very easy to become lost in it’s darkness. Leaving you without walls, or guidance in life, and without anything you’re familiar with, like a landmark. This leaves our eyes as the only thing that can guide you through life. While they can see, without anything to guide them, or for them to connections to what they see, they’re rendered useless. Leaving a person with complete sight traveling blindly.

Yall would say the pledge
I raise the fist above, the afro back
Murphy's Law by YC The Cynic

In American schools and other gatherings, it is traditional to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. During this, the hand is normally put over the heart.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, the American track team had two members, Tommie Smith and John Carlos, win gold and bronze medals in the 200 Meter event.

It is customary at the Olympics for a country’s national anthem to be played when they are presented their medals. Americans traditionally hold their hands over their hearts at this time. However, when the American anthem began to play Smith and Carlos, instead of putting their hands over their hearts, raised their gloved fists in the air in a protest of equal human rights.

The actions of Smith and Carlos were met with much backlash from thousands of Americans, proving their equal rights display was all too true. Their sign of a fist raised has now become an easily identifiable sign of “black power” and equal rights campaigns. YC, like these two Olympians, is unafraid express his views, despite the consequences he might receive for doing it.

The world is desolate
I woke up in Hiroshima in a trebuchet fit to hurl
Into space, into orbit without a face
The White Hart by Detroit Leprechaun

Upon The White Hart exiting his life, Detroit felt barren and alone in the world around him.

Upon her leaving, the world seemed empty. The fact that the city Hiroshima is fitting, for Hiroshima was the first city the US dropped an atomic bomb on. The bombing took the city of 340,000 and turned it into a barren wasteland.

This creates great imagery of barrenness and emptiness, putting images to Detroit’s words really well.

If being in Horishima isn’t a good enough image of being alone, Detroit then goes on to describe being shot into space by a trebuchet (French for catapult.) into the dark and cold blackness that is space, possibly to become a Man of A Moon. Truly creating a vivid picture of being by one’s self.

Though I didn't you were distant enough to make me indifferent
Yup
I just wanted you to revisit your heart
I hope you consider reconsidering your decision
HVNLY by YC The Cynic 1

He pleads with them to revisit their hearts, to change their lack of trust in him, because he sees the change coming, and wants to prepare all those around him for this change.

Hear me now
Oh thou bleak and unbearable world
Thou art base and debauched as can be;
And a knight with his banners all bravely unfurled
Now hurls down his gauntlet to thee!
Man of La Mancha (I, Don Quixote) by Man of La Mancha Original Cast

Here we meet the gallant knight for the first time and get a taste for his chivalrous language. Though the play takes place in 1800s Spain, Quixote uses primarily medieval-era language due to the impact the books had on his mind.

Quixote lashes out at and critiques the state of the world he lives in. He’s sick of the aggression, violence, and evil seen in so many men throughout the world. Yet, fear not for Quixote promises to serve the world right and save it from the bleak conditions it has become stuck in.

The things that matter seem so hard to hold, I Wish I Was Dead by Kno (Ft. Tonedeff)

The possessions, places, and people we care about most in our lives seem so hard to keep close to us. We can drift apart from everything we hold so dear in no time at all. Everything we hold so close can drift away from us in no time as well.
