Possibly beginning to reference Meg as an actual person in the song instead of just referring to him using her name. Wherever Meg might end up going, Jack is going to be there, be it on the radio, TV, the internet, posters, concert flyers, etc…

And on a more pompous level, wherever she goes, she’ll always be associated with him…she can’t shake that association.

You can actually call Jack White whatever you want; eponymous, hypocritical, outlandish, whatever. Anything you’re calling him isn’t going to stop him from doing what he’s doing–that train is going and ain’t nothing gonna stop it. Even more so, this train is running on pain pills that block out everything else that would distract Jack from doing what he does.

Pictured above is Jack’s guitar after a concert where his fingers started to bleed. He just kept right on playing.

Jack might be saying that when he gets into the game, or the flow of things with making a song/album, everything is always the same in the sense that everything just falls into place. I mean, he’s the man with the name. Jack fucking White.

The bit after this, “Hip Eponymous Poor Boy” is referencing, as many have said throughout this song, his name in regards to Meg White. Jack has taken her name and made it his own.

Russel Simmons blew up with Hip-Hop, founded Def-Jam, and a bunch of Hip-Hop based clothing lines, among other things.

RiFF is the white Russel Simmons, and he’s going to do some other worldly shit involving Hip-Hop and how Hip-Hop is viewed.

CHANGING THE GAME

And queue the start of the double entendres that flood this track.

When you develop a habit, there are often times many problems that go along with it. One of the problems that comes along with alcohol is having trouble sleeping at night (if you’re not intoxicated). Mares are the dark spots that you see on the moon, so I’m saying that there these dark craters in my mind, and then finishing it off by saying there actually isn’t any light in my mind at all because I’m a pessimist.

The other way to look at this line is to get rid of the comma after night, and just look at ‘night’ and ‘mares’ as one word. Going back to sleeping problems, nightmares are extremely common when not intoxicated and trying to sleep. And believe me when I say that they are fucking terrifying.

Thirsty Thursday is a common practice in college as a lot of students don’t have class on Friday, Thursday is the go to night for drinking.

For me, Thirsty Thursday is every day. There is no perversity or unruliness. When evening time rolls around, bottles are opening.

When I was growing up, I never thought that I would be addicted to anything, as most kids think when they’re first introduced to anything that can be addicting.

The double edge goes along with the title of this song, ‘Twins’, and how liquor has a double edge to it in that it’s fun and it might make you a more outgoing person, but the other side is that it is incredibly addicting and can completely destroy your body in a very short amount of time.

Leaving the Ego in bed is a reference to Sigmund Freud and his explanation of humans having the Id, Ego, and the Super Ego. The Ego is the dude that has to deal with reality, more or less, so I’m just saying leave him in bed because reality is shit.
