It’s a matter of correct grammar. “Who” and “whoever” are both subjective pronouns; “whom” and “whomever” are objective. The Oatmeal explains this all pretty well.

Justin is feeling great around this girl, something he feels he should’ve realized when the lights were off. Using words like “charge,” “spark,” and “jump,” go perfectly with the theme of the song; electricity. Also, the electricity entendre can be interpreted in two ways:

  1. She illuminates brightly; something some people say they feel about their lover.

  2. She has tons of energy, and when humans have currency running through them (like rubbing feet on a carpet causes this) they can shock, or cause a spark with another person.
However, this type of energy is good for sexual intercourse.

“Pair of Wings” is a hidden track on the album, right after “Not a Bad Thing” and about halfway into the final track.

The instrumentation of the song is stripped down to just an acoustic guitar, strings, and JT’s vocals, which is an intimate way to close out The 20/20 Experience.

Wesley is trying to know if this girl would be willing to write or call him depending on whether he wrote her a song. This song could possibly be referring to their big hit, “Ho Hey” in which he tells the girl he can write her a song.

Finally, though Wesley understands his absence has been rather long, he wants her to know that she’s the only one for him, and it won’t be the same without her.

The imagery created by Wesley Schultz and the other members of the Lumineers is that of the 1940’s. Also, the addition of “Flapper Girl” which is the equivalent of calling a girl “easy” in the current generation.

Here, they make the connection of a local young male, who is presumably attempting to sell newspapers (a paperboy), and around him are hanging the boys' hanging boots on a powerline, which the local firefighters get down for him.
