The verse culminates with Sage simultaneously talking about guns and dicks.
Before the second verse, Sage whispers, “Insert nuclear symbols here” to say that nuclear symbols make everything seem more intense, severe, and cool than they really are, much like waving a gun around does.
Play on The Sex Pistols' Never Mind the Bollocks. Sage has no use for bullets to shoot people, as his “gun” is used for sex.
As above, guns are a way for people who don’t feel manly to compensate, and Sage is satirizing this.
He also calls back to the mommy’s pantleg line by stating how he holds his gun/dick in the fetal (weakest, most insecure) position.
He’s firing and firing away, hoping that the more he fires the safer he’ll be.
A sage line by Sage: “back issues” has a double meaning:
Phallic symbols means imagery that’s related to dicks. He’s basically saying that guns are a way to compensate for a perceived lack of manhood.
But more specifically, he’s making reference to the fact that most gun-toting/mic-toting homophobic rappers are unaware or unwilling to admit that their guns/mics are stand-ins for their dicks (or lack thereof). And when these rappers swap mics, the tragic, ironic, homoerotic image they unwittingly present is that of two gay-haters fellating each other. Gulp!
