Kanye continues the story from the first verse, where the protagonist was sent away to prison for abusing the mother of his child. He’s out now, but his troubles haven’t ended.

The “Kanye’s fame” allegory becomes ambiguous in this verse, but still applies. Here, his “daughter” is his music and creativity. His public image held him back creatively for a time, forcing him to deal with damage control instead of music

On the track “Power”, Kanye spends a lot of time talking about his inner child:

Reality is catching up with me
Taking my inner child, I’m fighting for custody

His daughter, while representing fame and glory, also represents his inner child, or as he has said, the inner genius in him.

Would be useful for passing the time while drug dealing…

What Jay really means though is that the young guys that took his place are bringing in a lot of money, and refers specifically to the new rap school, who at the time (2007) were making bank off record sales.

Kanye is predicting Watch the Throne will go platinum (sell one million units, which it did) very quickly.

Interestingly enough, Jay Z’s plan to pre-sell 1 million copies of his Magna Carta Holy Grail album to Samsung was originally intended for Watch The Throne. So it’s possible that Ye was expecting to actually sell 1 million albums right out of the gate before Jay changed his mind.

In the 80’s and 90’s, Bed-Stuy was one of the most dangerous places in New York City. It’s changed significantly in the time since then.

Jay-Z, like Jay Electronica, takes us back to times past, when he was just a street hustler talking to his therapist

The therapist, representing society’s hate towards black people, diagnoses young Shawn as being a total nut, because Shawn tells him of his dreams of success (which the listener, since we’re in the present, knows what he ends up achieving)

This line refers to the return of the Ancient Black men (who were kings) that Jay Electronica references earlier in the verse. The present-day Black man will express his royalty through modern riches such as luxurious homes, fur coats and fat chains (which Diddy is certainly familiar with)
