RZA has released a new song called “Destiny Bends.” It was written in tribute to the late Paul Walker, whom RZA met on set during the filming of “Brick Mansions”, which is supposed to be coming out February 2014. The Abbott starts the song off with a spoken intro, and then gives way to vocalist Will Wells. Wells appears to be singing lyrics that were written by RZA, which touch on the experiences the two had together while on set.

The Verse on here is one of Nas‘ earliest references to his “Escobar”, something that would come to define his sophomore 1996 album, “It Was Written”, and the subsequent 1997 album “The Firm”. But that persona isn’t fully fleshed out yet, evidenced by how his woman friend sports Tailor made ostrich by Chanel like the boss’ girl ought to but he’s still holding guns and shooting at the sky, lowly actions unworthy of a Don. Regardless, Nas was able to work out and fully develop the persona as time went on, but still the opening line here sums up exactly what Escobar was meant to represent: A drug dealer’s dream.
