In the second chapter of the book of Genesis “(2:16:) the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: (2:17:) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (King James translation).

This forbidden fruit (often illustrated as an apple) is translated as having sex. So the “you” Killah Priest is talking about has fallen in a manhole filled with sex, which is very tempting to “taste.”

Singer Marvin Gaye is well-known for making hits in the “baby makin' music” section of soul music. Examples of these are “Let’s Get It On” and “Sexual Healing,” which these lyrics also play on.

In the early 1970’s Gaye released the classic album What’s Going On, including the popular title song and “Inner City Blues.” The album was one of Gaye’s more political conscious releases, speaking on the Vietnamese war, the government spending money on spaceships, and more.

Rapper MC Hammer, known for the song “U Can’t Touch This,” quickly lost the money he amassed in the late 80’s and early 90’s after his popularity waned. Hammer was notorious for having a huge entourage of up to 40 people and a staff of 200, spending $500,000 a month on his acolytes and employees.

Jay-Z has referenced MC Hammer before; the following line about his financial situation actually provoked a diss track from Hammer:

And Hammer went broke so you know I’m more focused / I lost 30 mil, so I spent another 30
Cause unlike Hammer, thirty million can’t hurt me

In his autobiography, Jay-Z: Decoded, Jay claimed he has no plans to retaliate on record. If so, what would we call this?

There’s also a very subtle and quiet MC Hammer sample in the background of this part.

This still flows with the “takin' on the giants” concept. In the animated basketball movie Space Jam – which has a truly amazing soundtrack – the Monstars want to enslave all Looney Tunes characters to save an entertainment park. Of course, the Looney Tunes characters don’t agree and they challenge the weak and little Monstars to a basketball match. Later, the Monstars drain the powers from a bunch of professional basketball players and get huge and seem unbeatable. The Looney Tunes call in Michael Jordan to help them and they eventually win the match.

This “dude” considers himself better than Del, and therefore gives himself more than he gives Del. The “One for you, more for me” part is quite similar to Del splitting the money he won on the original Deltron album.

Illusion’s friends expected NoCanDo to be biased towards Dumbfoundead, but Illusion doubts that because he is that much better, that NoCanDo wouldn’t be biased because then he would lose his credibility.
