Classic Double Entendre!

Joey used to be a school boy (who went to Edward R. Murrow High School), and to get there, Joey would have to ride the Q train which passes by Flatbush and his highschool — and sometimes he missed it.

Also a clever reference to the TDE rapper ScHoolboy Q who used to live on Hoover Street next to Figueroa, or Figg side as he calls it in many of his songs.

Joey himself was born in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY. This could also be a reference to the hip-hop group Flatbush Zombies who originate from Flatbush, NY hence the name.

Even though I’m a bit disappointed that Jake Gyllenhaal got snubbed (really Academy? How can you snub something like this?), seeing Steve Carell’s character in Foxcatcher was very unnerving and upsetting which is what they were definitely going for.

I don’t know about you guys, but I thought Edward Norton was absolutely brilliant in this movie. Something about his presence in the film made it that much better for me. The first scene he had was too dope. If J.K. Simmons doesn’t win, give the award to good ol Eddy.

She was just simply elegantly psychotic. She really did a fantastic job in this role.

Even though I knew she wasn’t going to be, I really believe Essie Davis should have been nominated in this category. Her role in The Babadook was just brilliant and believable.

Donald has never steered away from the fact that he himself is childish. He’s mentioned his love for cartoons many times in the past as well.

He’s even voiced several cartoon characters himself.

It ain’t a Gambino line without a bit of wordplay!

If you’re looking for him, you can find Donald messing around with your main chick and a play on with the word “main” occurs here. A mane (homonym of “main”) is the long thick hair you’ll find on some animals like a horse or a lion but not a lioness (a female lion).

I don’t want to say too much and spoil it for those who haven’t seen the film yet but bruh…
This scene was just heart-wrenching. Incredible.
Matthew McConaughey was absolutely amazing in this scene. I promise you, he was so close to getting my vote for Best Actor, but my dude Jake killed it in Nightcrawler.

Also, I don’t care what anyone says, if you haven’t, please check out Interstellar. It was actually the last movie I watched in 2014 (so in turn, I didn’t think it would make any of these lists) but it blew me away. Everything about it was insane. It’s been getting mixed reviews but after the film was over, I knew this was movie of the year for me. Too powerful.

Not only is it a trick he played on himself, but on others as well. The same kids he described who come to his shows with slits on their wrists and have nothing to live for will now be forced to chant “I LOVE MYSELF” as he performs the song.

TDE label-mate Ab-Soul speaks on that same topic in this interview.

This was back when ScHoolboy was first signed around 2008-2009. It’s also interesting because way back then, Jay Rock was the one getting the most recognition, and Ab-Soul was his hype man
