Earl’s had the ability to rip microphones apart ever since he was a young whippersnapper with poor nasal hygiene. And, when you consider he wrote this line when he was fourteen, it really makes you wonder just how good he still can become.

This also references lines from the MF DOOM song “Hey!” from Operation: Doomsday and the last line of “All Caps,” the instrumental he’s currently rapping over.

This is a really clever line.

Elzhi says he never has his head in the clouds dreaming and wishing, because both his hair and the clouds could go gray at any instant.

When hair turns gray, it’s either from old age (spending your whole life dreaming) or stress (when shit gets hard in his neighborhood). When clouds turn gray, it’s a sign that a storm is coming, and bad things are on the way.

So kids, be like Elzhi, and stay down to Earth.
