When you say them, Obama, these ‘just words’ become unjust words. :o

This incident was recorded on September 24, 2015, where a man blurts the offensive internet meme, FHRITP.

Sarah Teale tweeted this soon after being filmed.

“FHRITP” is a widely known internet meme, which started in 2014. It came about when John Cain blurted the words in a sheer attempt to start a meme.

Reporter Morgan Dunlop reported on Montreal’s CBC News that he “did not intend this to be targeting women.”

Some are outraged by the comments made while correspondents report out in the field and agree that, although this is still a meme, it is still a form of harassment and should be penalized.

Others have presented a different argument, saying that the meme is a harmless prank and should not be considered a “hate crime”. YouTube user Sargon of Akkad adds that this could potentially inflate the crime rates to the point where they expand the definition of hate crime to anti-mainstream criticism.

With the author framing this story with Sarah Teale’s story to discuss reducing hate crime, it should be noted that harassment and hate crimes are not mutual.

Is this meme a form of objectification? Absolutely. Misogyny? Perhaps. “Misogyny hate crime”? Hard to tell… especially because many cases of these memes have been made with both men and women on the mic.

This is a made up line to make fun of My Nigga, who – to put it bluntly – fucked up his part of a performance paying tribute to The Notorious B.I.G..

The line is from Snoop Dogg’s “Murder Was the Case”:

Murder was the case that they gave me

CNN embedded this tweet in their article, “Rich Homie Quan: Who he is and and why you should feel sorry for him”.

RHQ released the statement on Instagram

Here it is in full:

I assure you that I never intended to disrespect the Memory of Biggie Smalls. I have long respected his work and his contribution to the rap game. I greatly apologize not only to Biggie Smalls, but also to all of my fans, Biggie Smalls fans and to New York. The city of New York has been nothing but good to me. I felt honored to stand on stage with artists I grew up listening to. Once on stage I had some technical difficulties and must admit I got nervous. I will forever be sorry New York, my fans, Biggie Smalls, Biggie Smalls Fans, Lil Kim, and all the Hip Hop community for my performance. I hope you can accept my apology. To Lil Kim, Thank you for the opportunity.

Politifact has analyzed Trump’s view on the federal minimum wage.

They have cited an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press multiple times, where Chuck Todd asked:

At a debate […] You thought you didn’t want to touch [the minimum wage]. Now you’re open to it. What changed?

Trump replied with the following:

I don’t know how people make it on $7.25 an hour. Now, with that being said, I would like to see an increase of some magnitude. But I’d rather leave it to the states. Let the states decide. Because don’t forget, the states have to compete with each other. […]

Subsequently, Todd asked half of a clarification question:

[…] but should the federal government set a floor, and then you let the states–

Donald Trump cut in and said:

No, I’d rather have the states go out and do what they have to do. And the states compete with each other, not only other countries, but they compete with each other […]

Evidently, this would mean that, if he were president, he would like to abolish the federal minimum wage of $7.25/hour and “leave it to the states.”
