David Samson said it best:

This is not about today or tomorrow. Jose is a member of this [Marlins] family for all time, and a member of the city of Miami and all of south Florida, all Cuban-Americans. His story is representative of hope, and of love, and of faith… and no one will let that story die.

This interpolates the famous quote, “Work smart, not hard.”

An industrial engineer named Allen F. Morgenstern coined this phrase. He created a work simplification program in the 1930’s where the goal was to increase the ability of people to produce more with less effort.

Why is she conflating gender and race here? (The previous sentence discusses how white people make up a majority of positions at Google.)

Sargon of Akkad refers to this passage in his video and indicates why people argue that this is (and encourages) a dichotomous, Marxist way of thinking.

In essence, she generates huge assumptions with these statistics and bases her reasoning solely on her perception of the ‘oppressor’ versus the ‘oppressed’… regardless of the social construct at hand.

For example, how does a man of color or a white woman fit into this argument? Are they oppressing one group but being oppressed in another? Based on the author’s logic, no. Rather, it is because white people make up the majority of positions despite the fact that women spend more time on social media… which makes zero sense.

Corey Seager’s 25th home run of his rookie season extended the Dodgers' lead to 3.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xVP74885N0

Fun Facts:

  • With this home run, both Seager brothers – Corey and Kyle (of the Mariners) – now have 25 home runs. This is the first time in MLB history two brothers each hit 25+ home runs in the same season. Bret and Aaron Boon set the previous record (24) back in 2002 and 2003.
  • Corey’s teammate eventually reached a milestone with Kenta Maeda once he won his 15th game on September 16. It was the third time in Major League history that a team had one rookie with at least 15 wins and another rookie with 25+ homers. The other two times? The 1984 Mariners (Mark Langston 17 wins; Alvin Davis 27 HR) and the 1947 Giants (Larry Jansen 21 wins; Bobby Thomson 29 HR).

Steven Crowder quotes this in his interview with Sally Kohn.

He views this as untrue, and he introduces his side of the argument with this:

75% of Muslim marriages in the UK are actually not legally recognized. A woman in the UK, if they get married in a way that is not legally recognized – this is the vast majority in the UK – in Sharia courts, they have no recourse, they cannot initiate divorce, their husband merely needs to say, ‘Divorce, divorce divorce.’

He used the term “moral triage” on The Rubin Report, in December 2015.

He raised the question of what the implications are when we create academic environments in which professors are terrified to give something that comes off as “dissenting” in the eyes of the left.

…The issue of how we got there is extremely interesting and valuable. Recently, my work has been forcing on, “What does that mean for one’s intellectual life?” Like, “What does that mean for one’s ability to reflect on issues?” “What does that mean for one’s ability to make decisions about things that really matter?” Not Halloween costumes. I understand that some people think that matters, but that’s just evidence of an inability to show moral triage: to prioritize… some kind of a hierarchy to identify one need and another need and show why that’s important. And the way that you do that is through reasoning and rationality.

So when you attack safe spaces and when you attack trigger warnings … you’re actually doing them a favor … You’re giving people an opportunity to reflect on how they know what they know. And the only way you can do that is through an unsafe space. The only way you can do that is to really take a look at these ideas and examine [them]. There just is no other way.

So their values are arbitrary and subject to cultural capriciousness, unless they can be naturally derive. And they’ve taken out the engine of rationality, once they created spaces in which you can’t answer these questions.
