Tracing back to our middle school days (or even elementary, for some people), when we studied the human skeleton: the humerus (also known as the funny bone) is the long bone in each of your arms located between the shoulder (scapula) and elbow joint.

To help us remember, many teachers and doctors would tell us a “humerus” joke that helped us remember that humerus is a homophone for “humorous”; hence why we call it the “funny bone”.

…And this isn’t the only human bone with which we’ve made a pun:

ABHAN (offense code 3411) is a “Class C Felony”, and the element of the offense are as follows:

[T]he accused […] unlawfully injure[d] another person, and

(a) “Great Bodily Injury” to another person results; or
(b) the act is accomplished by means likely to produce death or great bodily injury.

Additionally, it is noted that the phrase “Great Bodily Injury” means:

[B]odily injury which causes a substantial risk of death or which causes serious, permanent disfigurement or protracted loss or impairment of the function of a bodily member or organ.

(Retrieved from the South Carolina Judicial Benchbook)

This case will likely be prosecuted by the state of South Carolina under provision (b), since there appears to have been no “great bodily injury” resulting from the injuries.

This part of the tour truly hit home for Jeter, as he considers Michigan his home state since he moved there when he was four. The Tigers organization played a tribute video of him when he was playing baseball at Kalamazoo Central High School.

Jeter’s “Turn 2” Foundation received a $5,000 check from the Tigers, presented by his former teammates and current members of the Tigers' roster Joba Chamberlain and Phil Coke. Along with that, two Tiger greats in Willie Hotyonand Al Kaline presented him with two seats from Tiger Stadium (the field on which the Tigers played from 1912 to 1999). The third and final gift was a series of 14x16 water-colored paintings created by John Hanley. In the background, it revealed three different fields located in Michigan on which Jeter played: where he played in high school (now known as Derek Jeter Field), Tiger Stadium, and Comerica Park.

He shared the spotlight with his immediate family on this day, as well: his father Charles, his mother Dorothy, his sister Sharlee, and his 2-year-old nephew Jalen, who tipped his cap after his name was announced. (May we be seeing another Jeter jersey in the next few decades?)

(You can view the highlights of the ceremony here.)

This story was completely improvised sometime during Candy’s 23-hour stint on the set. The character is partly inspired by the character he played in Planes, Trains & Automobiles which was also written by John Hughes.

Gus is played by John Candy, Canadian actor and comedian who has appeared in several comedy films. All of his parts in Home Alone were filmed in one long, 23-hour day.

FUN FACT:
The concept for Home Alone came from the 1989 movie Uncle Buck, which starred both Macaulay Culkin and John Candy. The specific scene wherein Culkin’s character interrogates a potential babysitter through the front door’s mailbox gave Hughes the idea for a young Culkin terrorizing would-be thieves when he gets stuck home alone.

Although Candy makes an appearance in Home Alone, he and Culkin never act aside one another in the film.
