It’s not clear that the Democrats “won.” After 16 days of the government being shut down and a near-default on the United States' debt, no one really won. But they did get more out of the Senate deal than the GOP. And they most certainly held firm from the beginning, with Obama and Congressional Democrats not giving an inch to the Republicans.

He basically single-handedly caused the shutdown, the Senate GOP caucus went along with it for 16 extremely unpopular days, until they were basically forced to end it because the world economy would’ve gone into freefall otherwise… and Cruz has the nerve to say they did “nothing to respond to the suffering that ObamaCare is causing millions of Americas”?
