Japanese Breakfast’s Soft Sounds From Another Planet, follow up to the 2016 release of critically acclaimed Psychopomp – is less of a concept album about space exploration so much as it is a mood board come to life.

Michelle Zauner takes us on a lengthy 12 track journey, exploring a sonic landscape of her own design, one that’s big enough to contain her influences.

There are songs on this album that recall the pathos of Roy Orbison’s ballads, while others could soundtrack a cinematic drive down one of Blade Runner’s endless skyways.

While ‘Psychopomp’ was a genre-spanning introduction to Japanese Breakfast, this visionary sophomore album launches the project to new heights.

Sun kissed skin, unwashed sins Frxn Picasso – Sacred Hearts

The first part of this line sun kissed skin, relays to the time spent living and growing. In the ancient world the sun was used as a tool to measure the movement of time.

Most of our childhood is spent in nature and as we grow older our relationship to our environment starts to accumulate more things into our experience, from there – we now find a new basis to provide our actions, however righteous or otherwise.

This leads into the next part of this line unwashed sins. Whatever we do on the outer surface of our daily life is carried over inwards and stored into memory – continuing the cycle of growth. All this is done in the field of time, which doesn’t include nor influence the nature of a pure heart.

All hearts are pure but what makes the sacred heart special is the refusal to obey in fear or busk in worry. Therefore, can there be any unwashed sins when only love is flowering within.

Bad Apples tend to spoil the bunch, neglected and suffocating in scrutiny. – this album encompasses the existing duality between the moral and immoral action.

The rhythm of a heart beat is pure and a vital sign of goodness flowering – unrelated to time and the fears of deaf minds, it prevails without hinderance.
Our animal instinct is to react to love with love and to hatred with hate. Love or the feeling that carries this word is then based on analysed action, that first needs to confirm whether the action taken towards it’s comforts is a loving or hating one.

Our sacred hearts that are pure at birth and unhindered by time, however, do not react with the same action as a fearful mind. Energy with a nature inherited in the purity of rhythm – manifests a love that is not bound by time or fear.

Inquiring into the nature of relationship – human relationship, with nature – to technology – to other humans. So often we take for granted the attachments we bestow upon certain people in our lives, and create a sense of comfort within that.
To be isolated from society is an inert fear of man – regardless of their supposed credentials and achievements.

Seeking security from this fear is what we call human relationship between two entities, living or non-living – is that all there is relationship?

The one who is escaping security therefore cannot see with a clean eye as it were, but views all energy as a space in which comfort may be contained.

The trees of life put my mind at ease Frxn Picasso – Sacred Hearts

Truly just an ode to Soul’s enlightening These Days project and his influence to all writers. His use of imagery and the way he manipulates words is unheard of.

As we ascend on our spiritual journey however illusory they may seem, the toll of conflicting perspectives often lead to all types of mental disruptions – but thankfully mother nature allows for a connection to universal insight that can be the key step in our evolution.

That’s actually 90 million pounds with add-ons for the Belgian super striker. Earlier in the window Man United were heavily linked with Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata who seemed destined for a Mancunian future but the persistent Florentino Perez insisted the forward stay put as he could have a future in Zizou’s squad.

After several weeks of speculation Manchester United seemed to sweep the football world off its feet with an audacious 75 million bid for Romelu Lukaku. Although some Everton representatives tried to keep the deal quiet, they could not put a lid on the buzz that had caught onto social media and had Pogba and Lukaku entertaining the web.

Romelu is a natural fit for Manchester United. He is a big personality and a big player. It is only natural that he wants to develop his career at the biggest club. He will be a great addition to the group. I am really looking forward to working with him again

Lukaku completed his medical and the announcement was made on Man United’s official site on the 10th of July finalizing the move. The 24-year-old Belgian international striker joined his new team in LA ahead of pre-season training.

Lukaku had this to say about the mega move;

I would like to start by thanking Everton and the fans for the last four wonderful seasons, I have made some special friends and we have shared some amazing moments.

I cannot wait to run out at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 fans but before that pre-season is where the hard work starts and I am looking forward to that first training session.

Tyler has mentioned on several occasions that he doesn’t think he can sing well, because the “tone of his voice is too deep for him to express what he wants”, in response to being asked about a statement in which he claimed to hate rapping in 2014. Here he’s asking his features to help him sing instead.

Real Madrid managed to pick themselves up during the latter stages of the season losing the league title by one point and securing the UEFA Champions League but the season was far from over in Europe. The continental spectacle was set to take place in France.

Ronaldo’s Portugal qualified for the knockout phase as the best third placed team in the tournament. Hungary and Iceland both finished higher than them in Group F.

They then managed to swoop past Croatia, Poland and Wales in the knockout rounds to reach he final against the hosts France.

He has now played in more European Championship matches (21) than any other player, is the only player to score in four different Euros and is now level with Michel Platini as the competition’s all-time leading scorer, with nine goals

A horrific knock to the knee led to Ronaldo sitting out the match with barely 20 minutes played. Which meant Portugal would have to do without the influence of their star striker… or were they?
Ronaldo remained focused on the prize coming back to the bench in the second half to watch his team strive on to extra time, willing them forward on the touchline.

Eder came on in the extra time period to score the only goal of the final and gift Portugal their first piece of silverware as a nation.
