This goes deep: a black hole reference! The event horizon is the point at which objects can no longer escape from a black hole, due to the overwhelming force of gravity. While the object would see no difference, the observer would see the object stop. Within this science (ignoring the band’s compression of the ideas) is the idea that information cannot leave a black hole, such that all data is left behind once the event horizon is crossed.

For the band, time acts the same way. Eventually, so much time will pass that the events of the past will fade into nothing. Like a black hole pulling away their memories, time will destroy the stories that defined the past.
