“Shot through his phantom” could either be referring to being shot while in a car, a Rolls Royce Phantom specifically, getting shot thus becoming a ghost/phantom.

This is also a parallel to his song Worldstar because it was during this time when he saw the kid get shot after they left Opera, people started shouting “Worldstar!” and it was the shouting that indicated Gambino to hit the deck.

If Gambino is the worst rapper ever, how did he help Chance The Rapper become so popular? He first brought Chance along on his Camp Tour in 2011, and had him on his mixtape Royalty. Gambino then did a song on Chance’s mixtape, Acid Rap
Also note that Bino has used the bovine-cosign rhyme before in his song “We Ain’t Them” from his mixtape Royalty:
