Gambino stopped by Tim Westwood TV to not only spit a freestyle, but also make his own beat on the spot.

These lyrics that he spit at Westwood’s studio are also Verse 1 of his unreleased song, So Profound (ft. Trinidad James and F.A.M.).

“So Profound” was, at first, a snippet in Gambino’s short film Clapping For The Wrong Reasons:

Old money know what I’m about!

“Old money” refers to a class of people who have inherited money from their ancestors. Here, Mr. Glover is noticing people with “old money” seem to notice him more regularly than people with no money.

Although he has made enough money for himself to live the lifestyle of “Old Money” people, money is not enough to get the same status as them.

Think Great Gatsby: Gatsby was extremely rich and constantly had enormous parties, but he still wasn’t of the same social status as the old money who looked down on him.

Further cinematic analogies!! People with old money can be said to be more upright and proper (i.e Rose’s mother in Titanic), so they might be more likely to look on and judge. On the other hand, those with no money can’t participate so don’t. You could use the movie In Time here as a example. The wealthy had a lot of money but were so scared of death that they just watched the poor live their lives in an attempt to survive.

The internet references are strong with this one

This links back to the Elle Varner line, as Bino doesn’t have the patience or time to wait in line for a girl.

Big Brother was a metaphor in the book “1984” by George Orwell. He represented the surveillance by the government of the people. Recently, this has been more of a realization with the NSA leaks. Gambino is saying that the internet gives you absolutely no privacy and everyone can see what you’re doing.

The government doesn’t need a big brother program anymore. We record ourselves and each other. No telling when someones recording you.

He is saying that he will get a lot of hate from people because haters feel a lot more powerful behind a screen. But in real life, they would stay quiet.

This outro comes from an altered Sesame Street episode where Bert is trying to go to sleep, but Ernie is too thirsty.

This line could suggest that the girl Gambino is singing to finds him too sentimental. His affection is being perceived as clinginess by her.

As a side note, Gambino was actually in an episode of Sesame Street, where he played world famous musician LMNOP

People who want to kill Donald get the tables turned on their asses. The ‘cabin’ that he mentions is presumably his house, or maybe something more sinister considering he kills ‘em in the rear of it. He’s made mentions to cabins before, creating a reference to his previous album “Camp”, which dealt with campground metaphors of the like.

The ‘cabin’ refers to his body as he is being stabbed in the back by his family and friends. He is referencing the line “Cause when them checks clear, they’re not here”; they are just using him for his newly earned money. Also, assassins stab people in the back so it’s ironic that they would be stabbed in the back.
