Historically, Virginia Beach College Beach Week (back in the late 80s and into the 90s it was called Greek Week), had a bad rap with college students coming to the area during their respective spring breaks. There had been a string of violent occurrences, theft, muggings and more during said week, yet me and the homies would ride out looking for a good time.
Of course, all of this got flipped when the big homie Pharrell started his Something In The Water Festival during those same Beach Week/ Spring Break time frames. At first the locals were reluctant. But we turned it up and it was beautiful!
The Virginia Beach oceanfront has a total of 82 blocks but the main tourist areas comprise of 5th Street to 32nd Street.
With its recent city construction on the resort area and new hotels, restaurants and more popping up along the coast, tourists have gone as far as 42nd Street. From 45th Street to 82nd Street is mainly residential.
With the Virginia Beach oceanfront being such a popular tourist spot and family attraction, there are many “no cursing” signs on Atlantic Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, the two main roadways along the Virginia Beach coast.
Although lightly enforced, VBPD normally hit you with this ticket on top of something you had already got in trouble for.
