Club Paradise is the third of four songs that Drake dropped in anticipation for his upcoming album, Take Care. The chorus features backup vocals by The Weeknd.

On August 2, 2019, the song was re-released after Drake dropped Care Package on all major streaming platforms — a project he describes as “some of our most important moments together available in one place.” The release comes nearly six months after Drake re-released his breakout mixtape So Far Gone.

Bob Marley’s speech at the end of the original song is missing from the re-released version on Care Package, most likely due to Drake being unable to clear the sample from Marley’s estate.

This song shows Drizzy feeling melancholy about his success and the toll it’s taken on those he left behind. The title is a reference to Drake’s favorite strip club in Toronto.

Drake’s 2012 headlining tour was called Club Paradise. He was accompanied by A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar on the tour.

You know those good dumps where you only have to have one wipe? Yep. So does Childish Gambino. Referring to his rap though, he more likely means “solid verse, one take” in that he loves the verse and recorded it in one try.

People tell him to quit rapping because they believe he is not very good. They tell him to stick to writing and acting, two other things he’s great at. Childish Gambino thinks he’s good at everything (and he’s right).

He left to get away and clear his head, but she hasn’t forgot a thing. Another trip is necessary to avoid the arguments. Possibly a triple entendre:

  1. Got back from vacation and needs another one.
  2. “Trip” as in he needs to get high.
  3. His bitch is trippin'.
