Dip is a form of smokeless tobacco that is cut more fine than regular chewing tobacco. It is bought in a round tin that is a little smaller than a hockey puck. It comes in fine cut(or snuff), mid cut, and long cut.

Users take a pinch of tobacco and place it between their bottom lip and gums. Smokeless tobacco has much more nicotine than cigarettes (one tin has about the same amount of nicotine as 60 cigarettes). Large amounts of nicotine are absorbed through the gums and mouth tissue and goes directly to the blood stream, creating a buzz that lasts around 15 minutes. This buzz only lasts until you become tolerant to the drug; people who are heavy users only receive a state of satisfaction and relaxation.

Dips are usually popular among junior hockey players.

Hockey itself is a very violent, and hard-hitting sport.

In fact, violence has been a part of ice hockey since at least the early 1900s. According to the book Hockey: A People’s History, in 1904 alone, four players were killed during hockey games from the frequent brawls and violent stickwork.

A couple of hockey terms here:

  • Gino is a slang hockey term for goal. While the slang term did not originate for him; Gino is also a nickname for NHL Russian superstar Evgeni Malkin.

  • Apple, in hockey slang, means assist in hockey.
E.g. Crosby had a silky apple to Malkin the other day, over one stick, and through another guy’s legs.

In any level of junior hockey (or for any high-leveled sport you’re playing), it requires you to live in/nearby the town that you’re playing hockey for. In most cases, it involves you having to move away from your family and friends and requires you to live in a billet house.

Billet families offer room and board to junior ice hockey players (or Under-20 athletes from other sports, such as soccer). who leave home to join elite teams in other towns.

Much like any other of the main sports in North America, you usually have perks once you reach a certain echelon in a sport. In basketball, if you’re talented enough to make a team in highschool/college, things like tuition and meals are paid for you.

Like Basketball, junior hockey also have things paid for you, meals, gear, travel ect.

Beauties is Canadian-ese for nice. So Chucky is basically saying “For all you nice people out there”. Beauty, in hockey, are also those who play, love, and are usually good at the sport.

As you can see, it almost never involves aesthetic meaning.
