And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. Genesis 4 by Holy Bible (KJV)

People in those times lived with a combination of both of these occupations and this was completely respectful.

Later, God would focus on the offerings both of these brothers would give to him.

It doesn’t say in the Bible whether these were the first children of Adam and Eve, and they might have been twins, since there isn’t a mentioned time lapse in between the two births.

Genesis 3:15: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3 by Holy Bible (KJV)

After cursing the physical serpent, God turned to the spiritual serpent, Satan, and cursed him.

bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel

This “first gospel” is prophetic of the struggle and its outcome between “your seed,” i.e. Satan and unbelievers, and “her seed,” i.e. Jesus and believers, which began in the garden.

The woman’s seed is to be Jesus (Christ), who is going to defeat Satan. Satan will only be able to “bruise” Christ, i.e. the Crucifixion, while Jesus will destroy him (“bruise Satan’s head”).

Genesis 2:25: And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Genesis 2 by Holy Bible (KJV)

Having no knowledge of evil before the Fall, even nakedness was shameless and innocent. They found their complete gratifaction in the joy of their one union as man and wife, i.e. husband and wife, and their service to God.

And the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2 by Holy Bible (KJV)

Being right next to the tree of life, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was a test to the obedience of Adam and Eve.

It was given this title because at the time before Adam and Eve ate this fruit, they didn’t know any evil and only knew good, which is why they weren’t ashamed of their nakedness.

The use of an apple as the symbol of the fruit of the tree might be related to Norse mythology.

The tree of life also in the midst of the garden, Genesis 2 by Holy Bible (KJV)

The tree of life was a real tree with special properties to give the eater eternal life. It was placed in the center of the garden, where it must be seen by Adam, and its fruit perhaps eaten by him, and thus giving him eternal life.

On the contrary to popular belief, the fruit that the tree produced is not known and there isn’t any mention in the Bible as to the identity of the fruit.

Genesis 2:6: But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. Genesis 2 by Holy Bible (KJV)

Mist” could be translated as “flow.” This indicated that water came up from beneath the ground as springs and spread over the whole earth in an uninterrupted cycle of water.

After the fall, rain became the primary means of watering the earth and allowed for floods and droughts that did not exist originally.

Because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Genesis 2 by Holy Bible (KJV)

God certainly did not rest due to weariness; rather, establishing the pattern for man’s work cycle, He only modeled the need for rest.

Later, the Mosaic law established this “7th day of rest” as the Sabbath, in which all Jews aren’t to work and are to rest and praise/worship God.

Genesis 1:25: And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good. Genesis 1 by Holy Bible (KJV)

The repetition of “after his kind” or “after their kind” depicts the fact that God didn’t intend for humans to crossbreed animals and to breed animals “according to its kind.”

Genesis 1:24: And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. Genesis 1 by Holy Bible (KJV)

…and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind…

This suggests all kinds of creatures, from small mouses, to the extremely tall giraffe.

But, this also suggests dinosaurs, which were extremely large creatures that roamed the lands until their still uncertain demise.

Genesis 1:10: And God called the dry [land] Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that [it was] good. Genesis 1 by Holy Bible (KJV)

This is pre-Flood times and since the global flood that God produced to wipe out humanity except for Noah and his family DRAMATICALLY changed the world, a united land, or the theory of “Pangaea”, might have existed at first.

Earth and sea is a metaphor for unity; and sea and God a metaphor for good conduct.

Thus this line is a call for the unity of humanity and good conduct.
