“I say fuck the police in my hood” replaces “That’s the sound of the police” in the final hook.

This very line is a detachment, Kanye started talking about material stuff, the night this speech was dropped on his twitter, you could feel chills reading this line.

Whenever he’s feeling homesick, he likes to look up in the sky at his home with ‘mother’ moon. Her elegant beauty reminds him where he came from, and that he’s different from everyone else. But different is okay, different is good

Rhetorical questions arose from the depths of fear. What if he gives music his best shot but it isn’t good enough and people don’t even want to listen to his heart and soul? Can they really see that he travels the road less taken, or will their ignorance blind them?

Could “their kind” be a play on words for “the Kan” as in Kanye? Bc Kanye was the one who found him and made him big

Still playing on the space metaphor from previous lines, he believes only in the motherly warmth and protectiveness of the nighttime moon watching over him. She tells him that he has to pretend to be human even though he is not of this planet, because while intended for himself, his music will help guide other people through their own problems. He’s simply playing the hand she dealt him: given the gift of being able to translate emotions and feelings into melodies and lyrics.

Remember, CuDi is the man on the moon. People may not understand him. He’s afraid of being rejected and not being able to help people. But finally, he helped us out, some people are not so different of him and thanks to him we all know this now.

These voices… They are his ambition. At the very beginning of the song we can heard “dream on”. He wants to become famous and to do music, but that implies a lot of responsibilities. Being an average dude is confortable, and being famous is tiring, he may never recover a normal life without fame after this, that depressed a lot of people. This song was in his Demo Tape, the very first CD he’s ever recorded and send to people, that’s why he put his doubts in music. Whoever is with you, you are alone in the end, facing the audience, facing the music-industry.

This isn’t about his dream of becoming a rapper or anything famous. This is the reality that the music he was going to put out was indeed “bigger than him”. He needed to express himself to the world to help many of us out who are going through some of the same struggles. It seems as if he was comfortable simply being on his own and dealing with his problems by himself, with an occasional blunt, but his destiny was to reach out to us through music.
