In this metaphor, Kanye is ‘driving’ his career forward, through the rumors. Driving creates pollution, or ‘fumes’ – its creating a negative energy around him, from haters and his own paranoia and self analysis
However, he can ‘drive off the fumes’ i.e. continue moving forward off the negative energy by using it as ‘fuel’ for his music. Graduation is far more introspective and self centered than its predecessors.
Driving off fumes is another also another way of saying running on empty, showing how tired he is from all the work he’s doing.
This is a continuation form the previous line where he says “he don’t even stop to get gas”. He doesn’t want to jinx his success by getting gassed up from all that he has accomplished.
This keeps in track with the routine theme for ‘Ye. His arrogance is able to power him (“steam to power my dreams”) – despite haters, rumors, or having no actual fuel.
Moving through the rumors is hard, because the rumors can stop anybody who is not determined.
Now when he says that if he can move through the rumors which in this case are negative things meant to stop him, he can be able to drive off of fumes which literally means little or no gas at all. So if he can move through negativity, he can move without any gas or support at all.
