Elijah knows she’s thinking about him, even if she pushes him to the back of her mind, so he gives her an ultimatum:

If she says she’s his, he’ll be her man.

He wants her to be with him at all times as he feels like he took her love for granted. The choice of the word ‘beloved’ is also very touching yet elegant, suggesting that there was a really strong bond between them.

Obviously, his feelings are increased to dangerous heights because of grief, so whether or not he truly ‘loves’ her would have to be determined at a later time.

A pretty deep thought that shows how strong his grief really is. People are always desperate for a loved one to come back to life, but would they pay the ultimate sacrifice; to bargain their life for the deceased person’s?

“Ignorance is bliss”. My interpretation would be that everyone but him and/or her could see it, suggesting that their feelings were obvious, but he/they couldn’t. This too can be linked to grievance, then again, it’s the general theme of the whole song.

He’s suffering from grief because the woman he loved has passed and, I’m assuming, he/they never got to share their feelings with each other.

This is typical for most of us who have lost a loved one, as we will blame ourselves, with or without reason, and we would want nothing more than to just spend the day with the loved one who passed away, despite the fact that that would just be an endless cycle of need and that it’s physically impossible.

You could summarize this as “you never really know what you have until it’s gone”.

Elijah doesn’t know how to tell this girl he doesn’t love her anymore, and he realizes he’s still in love with his ex.

Notice also the exclusive personal pronoun “she” used to refer to his current girl and inclusive personal pronoun “we” when referring to his Ex girl. It’s become quite clear that his new girl is just his rebound.

STEEZ started with a plan to get to the top, but he can’t do it without her, so she is the “supporting beam” that begins his “construction”.

Also the obvious reference to Jay Z’s classic album The BluePrint.

He’s saying stop with the angry/sour face, your problems mean nothing to 50 and he couldn’t care less. Especially since 50 is part of the daily struggle, your problems don’t really measure up.

A beautiful sample.

The lyrics should read ‘fire’ though, not fine. And ‘start to care’, not ‘stopped’.

Apparently, St.Elmo’s (also St. Elme’s) fire is a light blue/violet colored plasma which generates from the interaction of tall, pointed objects and electricity.

It was their third shootout, and they were only fighting to live, not personal beef or feuds, just the small glimpse of respect and power another shootout would bring. This is your typical hood, where people are killed over small things, and at a point where materialistic pleasures weren’t top priority, living life was.
