This song is a dedication to DJ Screw, the man who created the “Chopped and Screwed” technique. He made many mixtapes with this style. He is also known as “The Originator”. He is from Houston, TX and a major part of the rap music culture there (and the rest of Texas, if not most of the South).

Yelawolf is saying that he has a better future envisioned for himself. He has a dream, which is Yelawolf trying to live without the darkness inside of him.

Yelawolf has experienced the influence of the darkness inside of him many times before. He has also seen them unfold, or seen how they end.

This line is also vague. Either Yelawolf is talking about how he can’t see God or he can’t see the dark passenger inside of him.

Once again, I feel it is God, as by the end of the song Yelawolf can kill his own nightmare (the darkness inside of him).
