Russian’s stereotypically don’t smile. The Atlantic ran a story on the phenom in 2016, writing,

I think this is him wanting to see something new in the rap game. Danny probably is sick of rappers in the spotlight doing the same thing, he wants people to bring something fresh to the table.

The “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” song is by singer/songwriter Piko-Taro, a character created by the Japanese comedian DJ Kosaka Daimaou.

As of October 1st, 2016, the song has amassed over 13.8 million views on YouTube and has been gaining traction thanks to link sharing sites like 9GAG.

On October 28th, 2016, it entered the Billboard Hot 100 – therefore breaking the Guinness World Record for the shortest song ever to break into the top charts at a running time of 45 seconds.

... all of the merch there, mostly because that’s my favorite album. He had never performed the album in its entirety before because there were issues with that tour. I flew out there and got the merch.
