The key change at the beginning of this chorus occurs at 111 out of 179 seconds in the song, adhering to the Golden Ratio of 1.618, also known as ‘Phi’.

The Golden Ratio is a mathematical equation found when you divide something into two parts, so that the longer part divided by the smaller part is also equal to the whole length divided by the longer part.

While it may be common place on Broadway, these types of musical moves are brave and even daring in the realm of pop music.

Desiigner sees an attractive woman who is willing to do anything for fame and fortune. “Fuckin' for BET” doesn’t literally refer to having sex on the channel—she would just do anything to get there.

Hell is commonly referred to as “the furnace” because of its depiction as a desolate land of flames—a furnace contains fire.

In Matthew 13:50, Hell is explicitly described as a furnace:

This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

“The furnace” is where both “Timmy Turner” and the “fine bitch on BET” reside. They’re willing to make decisions leading them down the paths of violence and fame even though it might lead them to Hell.

Timmy Turner is a character on the Nickelodeon cartoon series The Fairly OddParents, in which magic fairy godparents grant him wishes.

A burner is slang for a unregistered firearm, like a 9mm pistol kept for use only when necessary.

Timmy is also a metaphor for Desiigner, as evidenced by the spelling of “Tiimmy” in the title. In an interview with All Def Digital, Desiigner said:

Tiimmy Turner is me. I was referring to myself, I was wishing for a burner and when I said “she fucking for BET” I was referring to a girl who would do anything for the fame, you feel me? Then I would say in the song that “I know that my soul in the furnace”, ‘cause I know if I wish for the burner and if she do anything for the fame, then I’d go to hell.

Sia reminds everyone that regardless of your gender, sex, religion, or sexual identity, you’re free to be the greatest you can be.

The LGBTQ+ community has the highest suicide rates of any social group. The Suicide Prevention Resource Center estimates 30% to 40% of LGBT youths have attempted suicide. Sia is telling everyone to keep on going, not give up, and stay alive.

Redemption, self-preservation, perseverance, and finding inner-strength are all common themes in Sia’s music.
