Although Post apparently has a girlfriend, it seems he’s messing with other girls too.

Post was featured on Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat in August 2015 as he performed at her birthday party.

artists like rihanna and drake have been paid to name drop brands in the past. other artists like jay z probably don’t get paid directly, they just name drop every brand they have stakes in on purpose because #shamelessselfpromotion

“Daydreaming” contains allusions to Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. This is depicted in the music video, both at the beginning and end, just like the symmetry in the song. The video shows Thom walking around in his own world, not really connecting to anyone. He ends up crawling into a cave away from it all. It is simultaneously a way of hiding from all the bad stuff happening in the world (thus accepting it) and giving up fighting for your ideas.

The music video features Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke wandering through various locations—a library, an empty parking garage, a family’s home. The clip was directed by filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson who has worked extensively with Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood. Greenwood scored many of Anderson’s films including Inherent Vice, The Master and There Will Be Blood.

A theory has been circulating that all of the locations shown in the “Daydreaming” music video are references to Radiohead’s past. For example, the grocery store is an allusion to their song “Fake Plastic Trees” from their second studio album, The Bends. Jonny Greenwood later posted a compilation of parallels between the “Daydreaming” music video and other Radiohead images on Facebook, giving this theory credibility.

When you’re excited, your heart beats faster, pumping more blood around your body, elevating your body temperature.

Ariana submits to the person’s advances and wonders if something more will happen—maybe she’s ready to take a leaf out of Nelly’s book?

It’s gettin hot in herre (so hot), so take off all your clothes
I am – gettin so hot, I wanna take my clothes off

“Suicide doors” are car doors designed to open on an opposite hinge than regular doors. They can be regularly found in luxury cars.

Chance plays with the term, pointing out that a life which revolves around materialism will kill your soul. People let their material possessions own them, to the point where they can’t live without them anymore, losing themselves in the process. This is reminiscent of Kanye’s line on “All Falls Down”:

It seems we living the American dream
But the people highest up got the lowest self-esteem

This also points to the value of privacy for himself and his family—in “Ultralight Beam” he rapped: “My daughter look just like Sia you can’t see her.” Wide windows is a nod to over exposure—they make someone vulnerable and visible which could lead to suicide.

This week we had a DOPE hangout but unfortunately my recording crashed.

Here’s what we discussed (if someone was there and I’ve missed something, feel free to edit this annotation and add it in):

  • Roy becoming a moderator and potential other moderator candidates. Names that were tossed around: DoyleOwl, Babuc, Drew Harvie.

  • Executive Editor @cwerthman joined us as a special guest! She explained our broader editorial site motto: “do cool shit” and discussed what type of content we’re looking to post on Genius. The content we’re looking to post is “nuggets of musical knowledge” as oppose to album reviews (we won’t be doing these for the foreseeable future). Christine also explained the importance of having a balance between articles like lists and more in-depth pieces.

  • We spoke a lot about the future of the News Genius community and what a potential News Genius Editor/Moderator might look like. How do we set a criteria? How do we make these roles real things? Angela, Christopher, and Stephen Pringle discussed this.

  • Epaulettes joined her first hangout! We discovered the origin of her username (it’s French, s/o Angela). This is an epaulette:

  • We discussed the coaching tracker (use it! even if you’re only keeping track of names) and the outreach bonus.

  • Babuc discussed his new pop initiative, #getpopgeniuspoppin', and discussed ways we can all help spearhead that in the right direction.

  • An in-depth discussion about Tyrant’s bedroom fan, now named Robert, who watches him tentatively in his sleep.

  • Alec’s dog made a cameo appearance. He’s signing up for an account soon.
