While this entire section’s point is about replacing Harper’s own childhood into historical context, this line is the one that dates it the most precisely.

Harper was born in 1941, meaning his earliest childhood memories date back to the Second World War. England was ravaged by Nazi bombings, which were preceded by alert sirens, hence the mention of sirens and planes.

Farthings were a subdivision of the sterling pound before the monetary system of England was changed to a decimal one. It was worth one nine hundred and sixtieth of pound (1/960).

A farthing bearing the head of King George VI, King of the United Kingdom during the Second World War.

“Beneath The Mask” is a theme used in the video game Persona 5 as background music when the player explores the real world – as opposed to the imaginary worlds where most of the gameplay takes place.

The lyrics allude to the masks the protagonists wear while exploring imaginary worlds, so as not to be recognised by the villains.

Depending on various parameters such as the weather, the song will play as one of four versions:
- full band song
- full band instrumental
- drum-less, bass-less song (on rainy days)
- drum-less, bass-less instrumental

The lyrics are sung by Lyn Inaizumi and are replaced by a Hammond organ lead on instrumental versions.

“RaelSan”

J'écris chaque phase comme si Michael pouvait voir ça
“San”

This song is a collaborative humorous roast between all four remaining original members of the Alice Cooper Band – a lineup that broke up in 1974.

There was no particular tension when that lineup broke up and these musicians kept collaborating on various solo projects throughout the years, but for lead singer Alice Cooper’s 2021 solo album, they decided to have fun writing and all singing a roast song.

The last verse ends by the four of them roasting late lead guitarist and founding member Glen Buxton who passed away in 1997.

This line references the song “Flaming” from Pink Floyd’s first album, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, recorded in 1967 before David Gilmour even joined the band.

In the opening lines, then-frontman Syd Barrett sang:

Alone in the clouds all blue

This callback could be a way to commend Richard Wright’s invaluable legacy in the band, especially at the beginning of it all when his mastery of his keyboards was prominently used to shape the songs' soundscapes. Indeed, “Flaming” opens with the blazing atmosphere set by his organ.

Before the wall of text, the bullet points:

  • French rap classics
  • Classic rock (British, American and all around the world)
  • Vîrus
  • video games (mainly Nintendo)

I joined the French community back in 2011 but have worked on songs both in French and English ever since. The French stuff is mostly rap but the English-language stuff is usually more classic-rock oriented.

When I joined the “Rap Genius France” community, I was needed to add a bit of French rap’s back catalogue. At the time, there were many French contributors eager to work on the music that was currently releasing, but some promotion was needed on our social network accounts for the classics, mostly released before the years 2000.

I started a weekly song highlight series that would occur every sunday for two years and a half. The complete list can be found here.

Of course, as the French community grew in numbers, this series was no longer necessary and ended before becoming redundant.

Due to my interest in many kinds of music, I hover about on many parts of the site and have no regular Moderator task anymore, but I still Mod from time to time and come here almost daily. I operate mostly on the classic rock part of the website nowadays. Pink Floyd is my absolute favorite band.

If you want to hit me up, I live on Paris time (CET).

The first “skills” that come to mind are languages. In addition to my native French, I’m rather satisfied by my abilities in English, but further than these two, I only know bits and pieces of a handful of other languages and i really wish I could speak more of those. Mainly Japanese, Spanish, Italian and German.

I also wish I had better chops for producing audio/video content. I have basic skills but I’m miles away from being able to create professional-level songs or videos, which is a bummer because I’m a loudmouth with something to say about pretty much everything. Perhaps the world is a better place for my inability…

I wish I were better at the guitar. I’ve been playing it for half my life but I feel my skill has plateau’d for a while now. I’m much more inspired and confident with my singing and drumming so it’s frustrating to think that the instrument I literally have practiced the most is just not the one I’m really good at.
