Mac intentionally placed Earl’s hook in between his two verses to contrast them. Whereas the first one is about relationships and the struggles that many – including himself – have gone through, everything after Earl says “go” is just Mac spitting bars and not caring what anyone has to say.
This lyric is the perfect lead into the second verse, as Earl makes known to his girl that he is taking charge and adding to the unwritten “rule book”, and then urges Mac to do the same.

Kurt Cobain is referencing the practice of a witch trial and commenting on how Frances Farmer’s persecution was a modern-day equivalent. During a witch trial, the suspect would be thrown into a river with stones in their pockets and left to either drown or float—the latter would effectively “prove” that she was a witch, resulting in execution. This is a lose-lose scenario.
These events are also alluded to earlier in the album, on “Serve The Servants”:

Kurt uses the notion of a witch hunt to criticize society’s idea of what constitutes “normalcy.” Farmer’s rebelliousness and substance abuse were seen as problematic, so she was effectively locked away in a mental asylum for not conforming to society’s rules. As a nonconformist himself, Kurt had an affinity for these types of historical figures.

The chorus seems to have relation to the Dichotomy of Apollo & Dionysus.

In short, what he found was that in Athenian Tragedies (a form of play) the most perfect were ones that had the right amount of Dionysian aspects (Intoxication, group experience, excess, irrationality) and Apollonian (Authority, individuality, rationality).
Josh Homme has acknowledged since his near death experience that he has shifted his views from that of an Dionysian (related to pleasure, heart, impulsiveness) to an Apollonian (related to the mind, dedication, and creation of art).
Remember, Apollo was Greek God of the Sun.
